Introducing Henrietta – Family Support Coordinator

Hi Henrietta, welcome,

Hello.

First and foremost what is your role at The Door?

I work in The Door’s parent support team as the Parent Support Coordinator for Cirencester and the Cotswolds. I’m quite new to the team but everyone has been so welcoming and I am learning a lot which I really enjoy.

Glad to hear it, and how did you come to join the team?

I’ve always been passionate about helping people which has led me to different jobs over the years. I had my son when I was 20 so work had to take a back seat. He’s a bit more grown up now so now I’m back at work part-time.  I was working as a pharmacy manager which I loved, but when we decided to move away to a new home I needed to find another job. I wanted to go somewhere I could really make a difference and then the role at The Door appeared on the jobs feed and I went for it!

Right place right time, obviously

Seems that way!

So tell us a bit more about your role.

I’m part of The Door’s Collaboration with The Churn in Cirencester. We are bringing together The Churn’s expertise with early years and The Door’s experience with teenagers to work together and offer wrap-around support for families with children aged 0-17.

It’s a brand new project which is really exciting, to get to see everything unfold in front of me, it’s a lovely journey to be on.

So what are you most excited about for this new project?

I’m most excited about being able to bring the services that The Door is already offering across Stroud into the new area of Cirencester and the Cotswolds and be able to support people there.

I’m also excited to offer volunteer training too but I think that will be one of my biggest challenges because we are new and getting established it’s going to take a lot of work to make The Door a household name. But ultimately when we get there that will be something to be really proud of.

That sounds like an amazing goal to be heading towards.

I hope so.

Now that’s the ‘formal’ questions finished with so let’s move onto the more fun stuff.

Ok

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life what would it be and why?

Oh I’m so boring! It has to be chilli con carne, it’s my all-time favourite and always my go-to. It has to come with garlic bread though, that’s important!

Excellent choice, what about sports teams do you follow any?

I don’t really follow sports teams but I do support my son’s football team and my partner’s rugby team when they play. Does that count?

I think that definitely counts!

And I get the “privilege” of the muddy washing each week too!

Oh dear, rather you than me. And finally, do you have an inspirational quote to share with us?

Let’s see, oh I know a young person recently shared with me “Every experience we go through shapes who we are”

Thank you

Thank you!
