Sessional Youthworkers – Cotswolds
The Door Youth Project, Cirencester/Fairford
Part-time, up to 15 hours per week negotiable
£12.21 – £12.89 per hour, with the potential for £13.34 per hour if leading sessions
Do you have a passion for supporting young people to grow and reach their potential? Do you want to be part of an amazing charity, recognised by the National Youth Agency for the quality of its work with young people and families? With our inclusive team dedicated to providing positive role models, safe spaces and hope for a brighter future, The Door could be the place for you.
A Christian youth charity based in Gloucestershire, The Door was established in 1991 for the benefit of all young people aged 11 to 25 and their families. It’s a place where every young person and their parents can feel safe, happy and valued, with the best possible opportunity to reach their potential.
We are currently looking for enthusiastic, friendly and dedicated individuals to join our award-winning youthwork team. In this role you will assist our Community Youthworkers in running both indoor and detached (street-based) youthwork sessions in the South Cotswolds.
Experience of working with young people in a youthwork setting and an awareness of the issues facing young people today would be helpful. However, we are keen to hear from applicants of all backgrounds and experience levels who are simply passionate about being an outstanding role model and are eager to support young people.
Full training is provided, as is ongoing support and commitment to your personal growth and development in the role. You will need to be available for approximately three late afternoons and/or evening sessions per week, including both school term times and holiday periods (more work may be available).
You will need to have your own transport to enable you to work across multiple youth club locations, particularly in Cirencester, Fairford and Lechlade. Travel expenses are paid when working away from your usual centre. We would especially welcome applications from the Cirencester/Fairford area.
Following receipt of your application, you may be invited for an interview and youth club taster session, in which case your references will be taken up.

Trustee with a focus on Fundraising
The Door Youth Project, Stroud
Part-time, voluntary role
The Door is governed by a board of trustees, who ensure that we’re continuing to achieve our charitable objectives, and take ultimate responsibility for our strategic direction, legal compliance and financial stability. They monitor our progress towards agreed targets, and ensure that we’re run both efficiently and ethically, with appropriate policies in place.
Trustees are volunteers who use their skills, knowledge and experience to help the board reach sound decisions. This may include scrutinising circulated papers, leading discussions focussing on key issues and providing advice and guidance on issues in which they have special expertise.
At the moment we’re particularly looking for someone with special expertise and experience in fundraising. The majority of The Door’s income is from voluntary sources – grants from trusts and local authorities and individual and corporate donations – so it is vitally important that we can meet our fundraising targets in these challenging times to be able to continue to deliver our award-winning services.
The role involves taking strategic oversight of fundraising at The Door, and advising the board on fundraising strategy. A background in successful charity fundraising might be helpful, but it’s more important that you have a sound understanding of the current funding landscape. You will be well-connected and willing to use your personal networks and influence to support the fundraising efforts of The Door. You may also have experience of social enterprise development and philanthropy.
To become a trustee of The Door, you must be at least 18, committed to our vision and objectives, and able to subscribe to our statement of beliefs. You’ll have good, independent judgement, and an ability to think creatively and work effectively as a member of a team. You’ll need to understand and accept the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship, and be able to commit to Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.
You’d need to be available for management meetings 8 times a year, which are currently held in the evenings, generally on Mondays or Tuesdays, but beyond this the time commitment is very flexible. There are also plenty of opportunities for you to get involved in other voluntary activities at The Door such as mentoring a young person or helping on the ground with fundraising and publicity events.
If this sounds interesting, we’d love to hear from you. Please send your CV to us at info@thedoor.org.uk or call us for a chat on 01453 756745
