Carley is a 13 year old we have got to know better over the past couple weeks of the summer holidays. She is the eldest sibling living with her mum and younger brother.

Her dad is currently in prison and will be released at the end of the year. Carley has found this situation really tough – it is affecting her home life, her relationship with her mum and friends.

Carley has spent a lot of time in The Drop-In recently and we have managed to get her involved in cooking, preparing food and art. This has enabled her to spend time alongside youthworkers, during which she has become more comfortable talking about what’s going on and eventually felt able to share how difficult life is at the moment. With the support of the team, she has worked through these feelings, and now feels more able to visit her dad than a couple weeks ago.
