Youth Worker to brave Skydive in support of The Door.
Local Dursley Youth Worker and staff member at Rednock School, Tracy Fletcher, is ready to brave a spectacular Skydive on Saturday, 23rd May to raise funds for local youth charity The Door.
Safe in the hands of the Army Parachute Association, Tracy will be jumping in a tandem dive from over 10,000 feet, which she describes as stepping well out of her comfort zone! If she can keep her eyes open as she speeds through the clouds at up to 125mph, Tracy will be able to enjoy a wonderful view of the south Wiltshire Countryside, even as far as the Isle of Wight if the weather is clear, before coming safely into land near the home of the Red Devils Parachute display team.
Tracy says: “I have decided to do a Skydive because it’s something I’ve never done before but always wanted to do. I also want to raise as much money and awareness as I can to support the awesome young people we work with in The Door’s Youth Clubs”
The Door is a local charity based in the Stroud District with youth clubs across the area including in Cam and Dursley. Offering all young people aged 11-17 safe spaces to go after school, where they can feel they belong, access support and guidance, meet new friends and have fun. Sessions often include the provision of free food, cooking and plenty of games as well as space to chill out and chat with friends.
Not only is Tracy a key member of The Door’s team, she can also be found working in local Secondary School, Rednock as a Welfare and Support Advisor.
Mike Stratford – Headteacher at Rednock School said: “We really appreciate The Door being part of our local community, giving young people safe spaces where they feel they belong – whether through local youth clubs or their support for us in school at Rednock, their work is so valued. So, it is wonderful to have a Rednock member of staff with a foot in both camps! We’re so proud of Tracy for facing her fears and jumping out of a plane for such a great cause, and I really hope that Rednock and the wider community will support her and donate what they can.”
As a charity, The Door relies on the generosity of others to provide its vital services, so far Tracy has raised £400, could you help her smash her £500 target by donating today at thedoor.org.uk/tracy or pop into The Door Shop in Stroud to donate in cash.
