Happy New Academic Year! And so, it starts all over again…September is a busy month here at The Door as we welcome new young people into our youth clubs and introduce ourselves to the new year 7s in schools. You could be forgiven for thinking that the team has had a rest over the summer but that’s very much not the case. The youthwork team were in full swing hosting trips and activities including a pizza in the park and a visit to Airhop in Bristol as well as youth centre sessions right through to provide young people with the safe spaces they needed during those long summer days. And the Intensive Support Team has been working hard too, ensuring our mentoring provision processes and systems are geared to be as efficient as possible.

That said, there was a short rest bite between summer and the new term, as the staff team took a day out for a well-earned time at Cotswold Wildlife Park where the only task was to enjoy the day and have fun together (a tough job but someone had to do it!)

As we look forward to the autumn (where has this year gone!) we are also looking forward with excitement to some regular features in our calendar year such as the Stroud Half Marathon (massive thank you to all who are running in support of The Door), our Stroud street collection on the 21st September (look out for our team on the streets) and our ever popular Awards evening where we get to recognise all that has been achieved through the year as well as continue to support young people and parents through our mentoring, in youth centres and at school. Save the date 3rd December evening, Stroud Subscription Rooms.

As each month passes, we start afresh towards new opportunities and challenges. Taking those small steps towards massive outcomes for young people and parents.

“…This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year.” Exodus 12:2

Have a great month all
