This month’s Director’s Chair is written by The Door’s CEO Victoria:

With the clocks going forward and the daffodils in full bloom spring is certainly here – and of course, (no doubt thanks to all the rain!) the grass is growing too.

It’s OK you haven’t stumbled upon a gardening bulletin… but thinking of grass growing is pertinent for us here at The Door. We are never ones to ‘let the grass grow’ – we are constantly seeking to improve and expand our offer into new areas and services and this is very much the case right now for us.

We are hugely excited to be starting the delivery of our comprehensive youthwork offer in Fairford, Lechlade and Cirencester and to be welcoming two new team members to lead this work. The team will be making great strides in these areas as we embed ourselves in these communities and come alongside the most vulnerable young people in those areas. We are passionate about our work as we know that having a trusted adult around makes a huge difference to the choices young people make and to realising their potential.

Being out in nature and making strides are also themes that we will also be pursuing next month with our incredible 100k in May challenge. I for one signed up early and will be putting on my walking boots and getting out there to raise funds for our fantastic charity. It’s such a fun thing to do and what could be better than a challenge that improves not only our own well-being but one that raises funds to support improving the well-being of others too. If you’ve not signed up yet there’s still time and if that’s not for you then do consider sponsoring someone you know who might be.

Demand for our services continues to go up and every penny raised will go directly towards supporting young people and families in need. Full details at thedoor.org.uk

Have a great month all
