This month’s Director’s Chair is from CEO Victoria.

What has happened to Summer?!

Just when we were all poised to be basking in the sunshine the weather has turned, well… British!

Despite the clouds, the summer holidays are just around the corner for many of the families we support. As young people finish school for their annual extended break and start a well-earned rest.

At The Door we recognise that not everyone looks forward to the long summer break. Especially parents and families who find these times more fractious and testing than restful and refuelling. Young people also often find themselves at a loose end. The summer break can be a void that they don’t know how to fill.

In both situations, The Door is there. For young people, our extensive youth club programme of award-winning provision across the District provides free, fun and safe activities to keep them occupied.

This year we are delighted to be able to offer even more activities than usual through our involvement in the HAF programme which includes food as well as engaging sessions. The team are also gearing up for a couple day trips to AirHop and the seaside which sound very exciting.

For those that need it, our Intensive Support Team are on hand to provide a listening ear and guidance in person and over the phone through 1:1 mentoring and support groups.

So, as always it’s all happening! Please hold The Door in your thoughts and prayers over the summer as we ensure that no one gets left behind.
