As we all get to grips with this third national lockdown local youth charity, The Door is still very much open in our community. Their friendly and professional teams are continuing to actively support some of our most vulnerable young people and families.

“Adopting a flexible approach has been crucial to respond to the continuing needs we see.”  Says Chief Executive Victoria Robson “Our lead youthworkers Kathleen and Isak, have been working hard with their teams to put in place plans to create COVID-Secure spaces where young people can feel safe and have familiar faces to talk to.”

Community Youthwork Coordinator Kathleen adds “Current Government Guidelines have put youth services under ‘Red Alert’ so we aren’t able to run our usual open access youth sessions. However we are able to host support sessions by invitation for the most vulnerable young people. Any young person aged 11-17 in need of extra support is welcome to request an invitation by getting in touch with their local team.”

Support Sessions are currently running at The Vibe in Dursley, Cam Youth and Community Centre, Stroud Town Youth Centre, Wotton Youth Centre and The Pod in Stonehouse.

Any young people who feel they need some extra support should get in touch with the team either by emailing info@thedoor.org.uk calling 01453 756745 or by finding their local team on Instagram:

In addition to the support sessions, youthworkers from The Door are continuing to work closely with local neighbourhood policing team and are regularly ‘out and about’ on the streets of the district checking in with young people to help them stay safe, and understand the importance of staying at home.

The wider Door team are also working hard continuing to support those with more specific emotional needs through 1:1 mentoring provision, both for young people and parents.
