Being creative is a great way to relive stress and boredom, so along with some new friends, The Door team have launched our very own Isolation Art projects.
As part of our #ThoughtfulThursday series , Kathleen (Community Youthwork Coordinator) has joined up with Abi from the Quarry Chapel to produce a community piece of art through photography. “You can’t go far on your daily exercise without seeing a beautiful rainbow in someone’s window.” says Kathleen “Our plan is to supersize this by bringing together lots of colourful photos, all you have to do is take pictures that are mainly one colour for each colour of the rainbow and send them in to The Door!”
Each week Kathleen will reveal which colour photos we need for the next part of the rainbow and at the end of the 7 weeks we will reveal the final rainbow.
If you would like to send in your photos (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo or Violet please!) to be included in the rainbow please email them to info@thedoor.org.uk or tag @camdursleydoor on Instagram
Get Creative
If photography isn’t your thing perhaps you could turn your hand to painting, collage, drawing or even pottery – the choice is yours. Alistair and Shona from The Door’s family support team are asking everyone; young people, parents, staff and volunteers to get creative and use some of their time in Lockdown to produce a piece (or 3!) of ‘Isolation Art’.
After lockdown and social distancing is lifted these pieces will be put on display at an exhibition and then auctioned or sold to raise much needed funds towards the work of The Door as part of the #KeepTheDoorOpen campaign.
If you would like to submit an entry into the exhibition please fill in this form
