We have never done a street collection in March before, but following on from the record breaking collection in December we thought we would give it a go even if we didn’t really know what to expect.

Over 20 staff and volunteers donned our (very fetching) green hi vis jackets and with buckets and stickers in hand; took to the streets of Stroud throughout the day ready to collect donations and let people know about The Door, because street collections are not all about raising money, they are also about raising awareness of The Door’s work. It was great to hear volunteers returning not just with ‘heavy buckets’ but with stories about who they had seen and the conversations that they had been having.

Overall the day raised over £700 (inc Gift Aid)! Which well surpassed our expectations, no doubt due to the enthusiasm of all the volunteers not to mention the generosity of the general public. Thankyou to everyone that donated be it time or money it is very much appreciated.
