CONGRATULATIONS to our Youth Voice Board Treasurer Nett, who was recognised in July 2026 High Sheriff’s Young Person’s Overcoming Adversity Award.

An excerpt from their nomination:

This young person has progressed so much over the last year. Volunteering in The Door’s Charity Shop and as a young leader at youth club as well as embracing their new role as Treasurer in the Youth Voice group. All the while, alongside starting college after being out of education for a long period of time.

They have shown themself to be kind and brave, always making a genuine effort to connect with new young people or those without their usual group. Nett completed the Young Leaders training course this year and has been volunteering as a Young Leader in their local youth club.

They are reliable and responsible and always make an effort, even when they find it difficult.

They are able to ask for support and communicate their needs, able to be vulnerable and honest with staff for their own best interest, and the benefit of others too.
