Directors Chair – November 2023 – Victoria Robson CEO
November is a very special month for us at The Door. Not only will we be celebrating all who support and are supported by The Door on the 28th of November at our Annual Awards evening (one not to miss!). But during the first week of November, it is also both National Youth Work Week AND National Trustees Week! So as a Youth charity, this gives us the opportunity to celebrate twice! We work in a very challenging space and come across so many in need and it’s so incredibly important to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate those who are making it possible to impact so many lives.
At The Door we have a hugely talented group of Trustees who often go unnoticed but who work hard behind the scenes to steer the ship, ensure the governance and legal compliance of all that we do, as well as holding us to our mission. We have recently added to our number, and I had the absolute pleasure recently to introduce our two new Trustees Fran and Patrick to members of the team as well as young people in our youth clubs. Throughout their visit, I was glowing inside as I very proudly listened to all who they met share why they do what they do and their passion for serving in our wonderful charity.
While the Trustees are providing leadership behind the scenes, our youthwork team by contrast are front and centre with our young people. Not only are they absolutely committed to serving wherever they find themselves, their talent and dedication to doing the very best they can be is impressive. Youthwork can be both hugely rewarding and challenging too and I never underestimate the enormity of their task.
I am so very grateful to be part of something so special that is The Door. And I want to take this opportunity to express my absolute gratitude for everyone as we journey together, facing challenges, celebrating successes and growing in our ability to give the very best of all that we have to offer.
