Organisational Reorganisation at The Door
As part of a wider strategic reorganisation, The Door has had to make some difficult decisions to ensure activities are sustainable for the future. We have been consulting with staff and trustees to determine the best future direction for The Door, in order to best support young people in the area.
As a result of these discussions, the decision has been made to focus the work of The Door more closely around youth work as our primary area of impact and to deliver mentoring and support to young people in a different way.
Our current standalone mentoring programme will conclude following a careful wind-down period in January. Moving forward, we will continue to provide mentoring support to a limited number of young people as part of our broader work in schools, enabling us to provide holistic support to young people.
We will no longer be able to deliver mentoring to parents.
We want to take this opportunity to acknowledge the tremendous contribution made by the Intensive Support team and our volunteer mentors over the years. Their time, care, and commitment — shown through listening, encouragement, and consistent presence — have made an extraordinary difference in the lives of young people and parents. We are deeply grateful for the impact they have helped create.
Between now and the end of January, we will be carefully managing the wind-down of existing mentoring relationships to ensure that each young person and parent receives appropriate support and closure. Our team will be in close contact with volunteers and families to guide them through this transition, signpost to other services and ensure that everyone feels well supported.
Although this marks the end of our current approach to mentoring, we remain committed to empowering young people and strengthening communities through relationship-centred work. As we move into this next chapter, we hope many members of our community will continue to journey with us in new and meaningful ways.
Thank you for your ongoing support, partnership, and belief in the work of The Door. You are — and continue to be — an essential part of our story.
Warm regards,
The Leadership Team
