Maizee’s Story
Meet Maizee, the current Miss Junior Teen Pink Beauty UK 2025 and Miss Teen Pageant Girl Gloucestershire 2025/26.
She also has a mentor at The Door, who’s been supporting her along her journey.

How long have you been taking part in pageants?
Since 2022 – my mum entered a photo into my first one just for fun.
We never thought I’d even get to the first round… then I made it all the way to the final!
I really enjoy pageants. They’ve given me a place to make new friends – my best friend, who I met through competing, also does pageants, and we get to spend loads of time together during the main weekends.
—
What does it mean to have your titles?
It’s an amazing feeling!
As Miss Teen Pageant Girl Gloucestershire 2025/26, I get to represent my county at the national finals this June.
And as the current Miss Junior Teen Pink Beauty UK 2025 (which I won on 19th October 2025), I’m so proud to be able to continue raising awareness for the things that matter most to me.
While I hold these titles, I follow the pageant rules – I have to dress and act properly, and make sure my social media reflects the positive message of the competitions.
—
How are you using your social media for good?
I’ve been using my platform to raise awareness for causes that mean a lot to me.
I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was five, so I raise awareness for Epilepsy Action, as well as supporting our local foodbank.
—
Tell us more about living with epilepsy.
The epilepsy I have is called absence seizures, which means I completely zone out for minutes at a time.
Sometimes this happens in lessons, and I miss what the teacher says. It’s made it hard to keep up, and that’s one of the reasons I have a mentor from The Door.
—
How has The Door helped you?
Because I was zoning out or feeling tired after seizures, I’d get frustrated at school when I didn’t understand something.
I was also bullied, which made me really anxious. Eventually, I started missing school because it all felt too overwhelming, and I lost touch with friends. It was a really lonely time.
One of my teachers suggested I contact The Door, and that’s how I got my mentor.
I love my mentor – she’s amazing! She makes me laugh, helps me feel in control, and never pressures me to talk about things unless I want to. Some weeks we just eat cake and talk about dogs and horses (my favourite!), and other weeks we talk properly about what’s been going on.
Counselling didn’t really work for me because it felt one-sided – but mentoring isn’t like that.
It’s a team effort. My mentor treats me like a normal person, not like there’s something wrong with me.
We have a lot in common too! She even helped me get a job at a horse farm for a while, but now I’m busy with pageants and showing dogs.

What’s next for Maizee?
I want to become a dog groomer once I finish college.
I can’t wait to complete my education, start my career, and keep growing my confidence through pageantry.
With my mentor by my side, it finally feels possible.
