As part of The Door’s 100KinMay challenge, marvellous mums from our Parent Connections group have teamed up to take on 100Km in 31 Days.

Intensive Support Team Manager, Shona says “We are coming together to share our courage and strength with the hope that we can inspire others to reach out for help when needed! Let’s get moving through May and spread some joy as we go!”

Rachael, one of our marvellous mums shares her story:

“I’m walking 100Km this May with a group of mums who have been supported by the amazing team at The Door

I’m doing it because before lockdown I was really self-conscious about walking alone and with others because I was overweight. People would shout at me and say mean things.

Then in lockdown I didn’t go out at all, I couldn’t face walking on my own.

When the world opened up I started using a taxi, and I still do. But, with the support of the other mums I feel more confident and sometimes I can walk in to town on my own.

I’m hoping that with the motivation of walking 100km and the support of the other mums I will be less anxious. I also want to be more positive about walking.
